It’s almost time to launch our second lady of the sea, Ambition. To honour this great moment, we wanted to give you a proper introduction to her. In this article, we’ll share all you need to know about our stunning new ship.

How big is Ambition?

With ten guest decks and 713 cabins, Ambition is the smaller of our two ships, with a capacity for 1,200 guests (200 fewer than Ambience). Our focus is ensuring all of our guests enjoy their time on an Ambassador cruise, and, just like with Ambience, our guest ratio will mean you’re never feeling overwhelmed, and each deck feels spacious and comfortable.

What are the cabin options on Ambition?

There is a wide range of cabin options available on Ambition so that you can find your home-from-home. With six accommodation decks in total (from Reception Deck 5 to Sun Deck 12), and 21 different cabin categories, you’ll be able to find somewhere on the ship to call yours.

Whatever cabin type you choose, you’ll be able to enjoy personal touches and useful amenities, which make settling in a dream. With tea and coffee-making facilities, a flat-screen TV, a hair dryer, a personal safe, USB ports and more, you’ll know you’ve got everything you need.

As well as that, for solo cruisers, we’ve got 19 purpose-built cabins that are the perfect space for someone travelling on their own. You don’t need to compromise, however, as all single-occupancy cabins have the same great amenities as larger rooms and double beds.

Why not enjoy a suite if you’re looking for luxury whilst cruising onboard Ambition? Our De-Luxe, Premium and Junior Suites all have a special private balcony and sitting areas. You’ll be able to wake up to the sight of a new destination, enjoy a coffee from the balcony as you seep through the water, and kick back and relax in your own sitting area.

If you aren’t sure which room is for you, view the complete Ambition Cabin guide here.

What leisure facilities are onboard Ambition?

It’s not just the cabins that are second-to-none with Ambition, but whilst onboard, the leisure facilities are sure to let you enjoy every minute of your cruise holiday. With excellent dining options, fantastic entertainment and some brilliant lounges and bars, you’ll be spoilt for choice of where to spend your time.

Starting with dining, our two main dining rooms, Buckingham Restaurant and Holyrood, will offer delicious menus and that traditional cruising experience so many are after. For more casual diners, Borough Market is the place to go with a selection of cuisines from around the world.

Ambition also has some unforgettable speciality restaurants, Saffron and Olympic Taverna, for those who want something extraordinary.

If you’re looking for a drink, there are plenty of options. Try the timeless Cavern or our stylish cocktail bar, the Clifton Lounge. If you’re poolside, Consulate Bar has what you need and lets you stay in the sun. Otherwise, there is Angel Bar, the Purple Turtle Wine Bar, and Pendennis Bar. You’ll have to be sure to visit them all whilst onboard!

Finally, entertainment. Putting on West-End quality shows, The Palladium is the place to be whisked away with song, dance, stories, comedy and more. For something more low-key, Grafton Street offers a range of activities, including arts and crafts. Head to the No.10 Conference Room if you want a game of cards with some fellow passengers or Brontë’s library to kick back with a book.

As well as that, you’ll be able to enjoy three pools, a joggers and walkers track, a shopping galleria, a fitness centre and the Green Sea Spa.

Who is the Godmother of Ambition?

We are excited that the incredible Shirley Robertson MBE, OBE, is the Godmother of Ambition. A history-maker, Shirley was the first British woman to win Olympic gold at two consecutive games in any discipline. Winning at both Sydney and Athens in the Yngling class, she is one of the best female sailors in the world. In fact, she was named female World Sailor of the Year by the International Sailing Federation in 2000.

Since retiring from competition, she has worked tirelessly to raise the profile of the sport, commentating on the Olympic Games and other competitions and presenting globally. She is now considered one of the sport’s leading commentators.

With her tenacious work effort, never-ending passion and unwavering dedication, we can think of no one better to be the Godmother of Ambition.

Where will Ambition sail?

Not only will Ambition be unlocking the door to more places for our guests, but it’ll also sail from a new range of departure ports. So, whether you are looking for a Fjord cruise from Newcastle, or a trip to the Seine from Liverpool, Ambition is ready. We’re bringing no-fly cruising to you, and as of this year, we will be departing from seven regional ports around the UK to make it even easier to enjoy the Ambassador difference.

Ambition’s maiden voyage, Hidden Gems of France & Spain, will depart from Newcastle-upon-Tyne on the 12th of May. Stopping at amazing ports, including Le Havre, Montoir de Bretagne, Gijon and La Coruna, it’ll be one to remember.

Then, she’ll be travelling near and far, including a range of Norwegian Fjord cruises, cruises to Iceland, cruises around the UK, Mediterranean cruises, German Christmas market cruises and some fantastic winter sun holidays too – and that’s just in 2023!
